Curves a dedicated women gym, well established and internationally recognized. I walked into the gym at 6:10am and the place was packed; women from all races and background, the young, the old, middle aged all dressed in varied gym wear ready for a 30 minutes workout. All with one common goal, to keep fit. The atmosphere is bright this morning with a touch of almost all women colours; red, pink, white and of course Curves theme colour purple. The music is quite high and fast to give women the zeal to carry on to completion. Every 10seconds I hear a lady’s voice’ change station now’. Although this is programed and we hear it daily while on circuit it still carries the power and provoke action, to move to another work station.
I joined Curves in August 2008, after motivation from weight loss instructor. It was new in our country, having opened doors on 23rd June 2008. Since then I have been a dedicated member. One thing that has kept me this long is the systematic way the exercise has been programmed. The phrase ‘Change station now’, compels one to move to next machine until one is done in 30minutes; no hassle, no fighting over machines and another bonus is a complete circuit ensures all part of the body are covered. After 9 years with Curves, can’t believe it, I had never had an encounter with anyone. We talk and exchange a few ideas as if we are all related. Smile is order of the day and regardless of our age, religious background and colour, this beats me.
